Does buying at Valencia obligate you to golf?
No. The course at Valencia is public and pay-as-you-play, membership is optional, and golf dues are not bundled into your HOA.
That is the whole answer, and it is worth reading twice if you have been shopping golf communities in Collier County, because almost everything else in this price band works the other way around.
You can buy a home here, never touch a club, and pay nothing toward the course. You can walk on a few times a month for roughly $30 a round. Or you can buy a membership from the club as a separate decision, on its own timeline, and cancel it later without it touching your deed or your monthly dues.
Why is this so different from other Naples golf communities?
Because they are two different business models, not two versions of the same one. Neither is wrong — they serve different buyers, and the money moves in completely different directions.
In a bundled-golf community, the golf membership is attached to the home. Every owner funds the course through mandatory dues, usually with an initiation or equity contribution at closing. The course stays private, the tee sheet belongs to residents, and the clubhouse operation is effectively owned by the neighborhood. Golfers who play three times a week often find that excellent value.
At Valencia, the course is a public, pay-as-you-play operation that happens to run through the middle of a gated residential community. Your home and the golf course are financially separate. You buy golf the way you buy a restaurant meal — when you want it.
| Bundled golf community | Valencia | |
|---|---|---|
| Membership | Mandatory, tied to the home | Optional, bought separately from the club |
| Up-front cost | Initiation or equity contribution is common at closing | None required to buy the home |
| Annual obligation | Dues billed every year whether or not you play | None. You pay per round, roughly $30 |
| Resale pool | Buyers who want — and can carry — golf dues | Any Naples buyer who wants a gated, single-story home |

What is the course itself actually like?
18 holes, par 72
A full-length par 72 layout running through the community rather than around the edge of it, which is why so many homesites here look at fairway or water instead of a neighbor’s roofline.
Gordon Lewis design, opened 1997
Originally designed by Gordon Lewis and opened in 1997, so the corridors are mature — grown-in trees and settled contours rather than a course still filling out. It has since been renovated by architect Drew Rogers.
Range, pro shop, patio bar
A driving range to warm up on, a pro shop for tee times and equipment, and a patio bar that functions as the community’s de facto nineteenth hole whether or not you played.
What a round costs, and who gets a break on it
Greens fees run about $30 a round — roughly the price of a decent dinner out, and low enough that a lot of owners here play more golf than they did when they were paying for a membership somewhere else. Rates in Southwest Florida move with the season, so treat that as the everyday number rather than a fixed price list.
The club advertises a junior plays free with a paid adult policy, plus 10% discounts for military and Florida residents. Confirm the current rate card, seasonal pricing and what is included with the pro shop before you plan around it.
What we will not publish, and why.
There is an optional membership at the club. We are not going to print a dues figure for it, because the published sources contradict each other badly — different tiers, different initiation amounts, and annual numbers that differ by thousands depending on which page you land on.
Quoting one of those numbers to you would be guessing with your budget. If membership matters to your decision, get the current schedule from the pro shop at 1725 Double Eagle Trail directly, or ask us and we will call over and get it in writing with today’s date on it. Either way you should see the real rate card before you factor it into what you can spend on the house.
What we can tell you plainly: whatever that membership costs, it is optional and it is not part of your HOA dues. Nothing about buying a home here commits you to it.
Everything buyers ask about the course.
Does Valencia Golf and Country Club require a golf membership?
No. Golf membership is optional for homeowners at Valencia and is not bundled into HOA dues. The course is a public, pay-as-you-play facility, so buying a home here carries no golf obligation, no initiation fee and no annual golf billing. Lennar publishes an approximate HOA of $399 per month for this phase; golf is not part of it. If a listing or a third-party site tells you otherwise, we’ll get it confirmed in writing before you go under contract.
What does a round of golf cost here?
Roughly $30 a round is the figure the course advertises. Junior golfers play free with a paid adult, and 10% discounts are advertised for military and for Florida residents. Southwest Florida rates move between season and off-season, so check the current rate card with the pro shop for the dates you’re playing.
Is the golf course public? Can non-residents play?
Yes. The course at 1725 Double Eagle Trail is a public course, so friends, family and visitors can book a tee time without living in the community. The flip side is worth knowing before you buy: the tee sheet is shared with the public, so the pace and the traffic on a Saturday morning are not the same as a private residential club.
Is there a driving range and a pro shop?
Yes to both. The facility includes a driving range, a pro shop and a patio bar alongside the 18-hole, par 72 course. The pro shop is also the right place to ask about lessons, tee time booking windows and current rates.
Do I need a cart, or can I walk it?
Walking policies and whether a cart is included in the posted rate are set by the course and change with the season, and we haven’t confirmed the current policy in writing — so we’re not going to state one. Ask the pro shop when you book, or text us at (239) 208-0906 and we’ll confirm it for you.
